The short courses are available to students who would like to attend the occasional monthly weekends, to strengthen their yogic knowledge.  Others may already be teaching and want to acquire points for continuing professional development.

Short Course Description

Friday 1-9pm, Saturday & Sunday 9-6pm

February (Brisbane 17, 18,19)
Meditation :   Introduction to meditation - its benefits and various approaches.
Beginning with Natural breath/Anapana mindfulness practices.

Human Developmental movement patterns: Overview and introduction to movement patterns. Internal Cellular respiration

Asana: Reclined, Seated and Standing Asana

Pranayama: Introduction. Slow rhythms - natural breath and ujjayi

Anatomy & physiology: Skeletal system. Structure, action, names of bones and joints.

Yoga Nidra:   Introduction and practice

Yogic Physiolology:
Mooladhara Chakra - comprehensive overview including, basic location in the body, the hormonal system, emotional connection, color, essence, seed mantra, asana used to stimulate/calm, practices to connect to each centre.

Teaching methodology :
Understand the art of observation in standing, seated and reclined asana, breath and energy flow. Understand how to assist yourself and students in a class. Discover how to access your teacher within. Learn to feel and be present in asana and breath. Develop voice awareness and clarity of instruction, which allows you to be clearly heard, understood and implemented as a tool for awareness.

Integrative Practice:
Introduction to the teaching methodology, that Yoga Presence adopts which encourages integration of knowledge. Methods of learning explored – 6 senses, passive and active learning.

Home Practice:
Students are given monthly home practice, relevant to this months subject matter in hope of encouraging deeper understanding.

MARCH (Brisbane 16,17,18)

Meditation: Introduction to meditation - its benefits and various approaches.
Begins with Natural breath/Anapana mindfulness. Meditation is mastered through the practice itself. You will be offered guidance, practice and group discussion.

Human Developmental movement patterns: Overview and introduction to Naval radiation & External respiration.

Philosophy : Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, YA Code of ethics, Patanjali overview.

Asana: Reclined, Seated and Standing.

Pranayama: Introduction. Slow rhythms – Natural breath, Ujjayi, Antara Kumbaka, Sitali                      

Anatomy & physiology: Skeletal system & introduction to the musculature system.
Action and types of movements of individual bones and joints, ie. Internal/external rotation. Conditions related to bones.Overview of muscle anatomy and basic muscle groups and movement.

Yoga Nidra: Practice.

Complete overview of muscular anatomy, basic muscle groups and physiology. And conditions related to muscles.

Meditation: Anapana, Vipassana and Metta
Beginning with Natural breath/Anapana mindfulness practices, you will be led into another layer of awareness through connection with all the sensations throughout the body, after which will be practice loving kindness meditation / METTA.
You will be guided through a practice and then discuss as a group the uniqueness of the practice to each person and each moment.

Pranayama: Fast Rhythms
Kapalabhati and Uddiyana / Tri bandha

Anatomy & Physiology: Circulatory System

Bastrika & Uddiyana / Tri bandha

Ida, Pingala and Shushumna Nadis. Yin/yang organ systems of secondary nadis that flow through the body and the asana that tonify each organ system.
